Hood pattern template library
Not sure where to start? These presets pair classic species with the two traditional cuts, each anchored to a published size band (12 templates). Pick one, check the piece list, and the generator opens pre-filled — then swap in your bird's actual measurements before you cut. Reference-grade only: verify on paper before touching leather.
American Kestrel — Anglo
Anglo-Indian (two-piece)
Smallest hood in the library. Two-piece Anglo cut at the XS band anchor — few seams, quick sew, the classic first-kestrel hood.
| Piece | Qty | Cut size |
|---|---|---|
| Side panel | 2× | 4.00″ × 3.63″ (102 × 92 mm) |
| Brace | 2× | 4.25″ × 0.38″ (108 × 10 mm) |
Opens the generator pre-filled at these numbers — adjust to your bird's actual measurements there, then print at 100 % and verify the calibration bar.
Where these numbers come from
Every template sits on the same published size-band table behind the hood size finder and the reference layouts — species presets are mapped to the band where that bird's head typically lands (kestrels at XS, peregrines around M, goshawks at L, gyrs at XL). They are starting points, not guarantees: a hood only fits once it's cut to your bird's two measurements.
