Exam & minimum age
Exam: 80% to pass. A written exam plus an inspection of equipment and housing facilities (to or above the defined standard) precede the first license; Oregon administers falconry under OAR Chapter 635, Division 55 with federal standards incorporated by reference.
Minimum age: 12 — Oregon follows the federal age floor; confirm class-specific age with ODFW.
Classes: Apprentice → General → Master
Birds by class & trapping
A minimum of two years at apprentice level under a currently licensed Oregon falconer is required; raptor capture applications are issued per season for residents and nonresidents separately.
Resident and nonresident raptor capture applications are published annually (2025-26 editions at check date).
Notes from the official sources
Oregon rules can be more restrictive than the federal baseline — read Division 55 alongside 50 CFR 21.82. All acquisition/disposition reporting goes through federal Form 3-186A within 10 days.
